Abfad Ltd News and PressMet Mast Removal at Scroby Sands
Abfad have worked at Scroby Sands offshore wind farm on several big projects over the years, and earlier in 2015 we won another tender to remove the 40 metre lattice tower section of the Met Mast, which is located on the North side of the wind farm. This needed to be removed in manageable sections and lowered down to the mast walkway using a rope access pulley system we rigged up, and from the walkway to the service vessel, again using a rope access pulley system, where it would be taken away and disposed of.
Profiles, Projects and Services!
Take a look at our new General Service Presentation, which outlines the services we provide, as well as a company profile of Abfad and some of the big projects we have worked on over the years. It contains some great pictures from some of the projects we have been involved with, including the New Wembley Stadium and Arch, the refurbishment of the first commercial wind farm in the UK, rope access coating and maintenance of the historic HMS Warrior 1860, and a World first for double skin tank lining.
We are at the Tank Storage Association Conference and Exhibition
It’s that time of the year again, time for the Tank Storage Association Conference and Exhibition at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. Abfad will of course be exhibiting there and we will be on Stand 30 if you want to come along and meet us, either to find out what solutions we can bring to your business, fire a load of questions at us, or just to have a chat about what we do or even the weather.
Confined Space Horizontal Entry And Rescue SlideShare
Working in Confined Spaces can be extremely dangerous, safety measures must be put in place to ensure the safety of all personnel during the work, including the provision of a specialist rescue team, who can, in the course of an emergency situation, perform the necessary assessment of the situation and conduct any Confined Space rescue in a safe and controlled way.
Working In Confined Spaces
Working within confined spaces is a dangerous activity, putting the lives of staff and contractors at risk of injury or asphyxiation from any gasses that might have escaped into the area, as well as any number of additional scenarios or medical emergencies that may be present when working in these conditions.
Preventing Corrosion With Monitoring
A new method of pipeline corrosion protection, which provides the answer to both elimination and monitoring of corrosion, has recently been developed by North East based Abfad Limited.
Unprotected pipelines are incredibly susceptible to corrosion, these could be buried in the ground, submerged underwater or exposed to the environment, all are vulnerable. Corrosion in pipelines is incredibly perilous, as it can damage the structural integrity of the pipeline, making it dangerous for transporting potentially hazardous goods, such as oil and gas.

They are often called on to demonstrate various rescue strategies and techniques to site personnel before any confined spaces work is carried out. This gives personnel a visible demonstration of the techniques and strategies that will be employed if an emergency situation arises, ensuring their safety.
